Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation or APSRTC is the only bus network within the city which connects each and every place within its premises, through the mode of bus transportation. Be it any city, town or village. The administration of the operations is overlooked by the bus depots situated at each and every town of the city. APSRTC operates in the cities of Karimnagar, Hyderabad, Warangal, Tirupathi, Vijaywada and Visakhapatnam. Not only within the city but it also operates in its neighboring state bus corporations, with which it has per head agreement for operation. Some of these are Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa, Orissa, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Pondicherry. The approximate number of the number of passengers APSRTC operates is around 14 million. It’s around same number our Indian Railway ferries.
The Approximate Figures of APSRTC-:
- The number of buses as recorded till 21st November 2010 is 24,000.
- The number of employees as recorded on 30th April 2009 is 99,000.
- The number of depots under APSRTC is 2210.
- The number of the regions and zones is 23 and 7.
- The number of bus stations is 523 in figures.
- The total number of bus stations and depots present is 765.
- The number of passengers transported daily as recorded in the month of 2009 is 13.79 million.
- The total number of routes as recorded in the month of February 2008 is 7,510.
- The villages connected through the APSRTC is 34,336 it selves.
