MSRTC Bus pass rates for 2013

MSRTC has revised the bus pass rates for 7 days and 4 days . The new concession rates helps passengers to travel in new rates.

Moreover, the inter-state passes will be applicable for ordinary as well as semi-luxury buses. These passes can be used for regular and for travelling in additional buses that operate during Pandharpur yatras, Ganapati festival, etc. To reserve seats, pass holders can pay the necessary charges. Adult and child pass holders can carry 30 kg and 15 kg luggage respectively for free.

MUMBAI: The MSRTC has hiked its fares for four-day and seven-day tourist passes.

The four-day pass for peak season (October 15 to June 14) will now be Rs 735 (old fare Rs 685) for ordinary bus/Mini or Midi buses, Rs 850 (Rs 785) for semi luxury bus and Rs 915 (Rs 845) for inter-state semi luxury or ordinary bus. The fare for the same pass for non-peak season from June 15 to October 14 will be Rs 680 (old fare of Rs 635) for ordinary bus / Mini or Midi buses, Rs 785 (Rs 725) for semi-luxury bus and Rs 850 (Rs 785) for inter-state semi luxury or ordinary bus.

CONCESSIONS
Concessions (Ticket Reservation)

Group Booking discount – 5% discount on basic fare allowed where four or more seats are booked as a group.
Return Journey discount –10% discount on return journey basic fare allowed when both onward and return journey tickets are booked simultaneously.
Free travel in City Services – Passengers with advance reservation tickets are allowed free travel in the city services within 2 hours before departure time of service(Except Air Conditioned Services)

MLA – Free travel allowed in all Classes of services
Ex MLA – Free travel allowed in all Class of services along with one companion
Accredited Journalist – Free travel allowed for journalist with accreditation card in all Class of Services within the state
Senior Citizen of Karnataka (age 60 and above) – 25% concession in ticket fare is allowed in Rajahamsa and lower class of services(no concession in Volvo, sleeper and other premium services),

Passes (Concessional)

Student Concession passes–75% to 80% concession on normal fare is given
Freedom Fighter – Free travel allowed in Rajahamsa and below class of services. For Freedom Fighters above 75 years of age one companion will be allowed free travel
Blind passes – Free travel allowed within the state in Ordinary and Express class of services
Physically Challenged - Two seats each are reserved near passenger door in Mofussil and City / Suburban services

MTC Bus pass for College students

MTC is providing good concession scheme for College students to support their transportation facility all over chennai. College students can avail the pass from below given procedure.

Students studying above 12th standard in Govt. recognized institutions excluding students studying in Government colleges and Government polytechnics are eligible to avail the concession and permitted to travel from their residence to college/library back on all days in a month.
Concession tickets are valued on Ordinary Fares Only.
Permitted to travel in all Ordinary,Express and deluxe services only.
60 Exchange Tokens per month @ Rs.3.50/- per token, to travel to library and back to the residence.

Procedures for getting the tickets:

Issue of 50% Student Concession application forms, Registration and Issue of Point to Point card with tokens for the first month of every academic year is being done through the concerned educational institutions. For the subsequent months, Point to Point card and Tokens will be issued directly to the student at the M.T.C.'s Sales Counters.

Procedures for getting the tickets:

      Commuters who like to get the Travel As you Please Ticket Card (weekly / Monthly) shall obtain an Identity Card at MTC's Sales Counters by paying Rs.5/-. The Travel As you Please Ticket Card will be issued on production of this Identity Card only.

TNSTC Bus pass

Salem Division of Tamil Nadu Road Transport Corporation has announced that free bus passes will be issued for students studying in Government Arts Colleges, Government Polytechnics and ITI in the districts of Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri from the academic year 2011-12.

A press release from its Managing Director G. Swaminathan says that those who have received the passes for the last academic year can receive applications from the respective transport offices near their educational institutions. The filled in applications should be submitted within a week's time. The students should apply with two passport size photographs and through their college principals.
